“Muslim Women and Higher Education” is a remarkable effort on part of the widely known scholars and educationists, Dr. Anis Ahmed and Prof. Muslim Sajjad. Underlining the utmost need of the higher education institutes for women of Muslim world in general and Pakistan in particular, the writers point out the lack of segregated institutes for women as a major obstacle in this pursuit. The study is principally divided into two main parts: the first sheds light on the traditions of knowledge both in Islamic and Western world, while keeping the Israeli Kibbutz, the Chinese Educational system and the model of co-education in the US in its backdrop; the second switches its lens to presenting a brief work-plan for the establishment of women’s universities in Pakistan, with a view to develop the country economically and socio-politically while intending to escalate this trend in other Muslim countries as well.
