Khalid Rahman, DG IPS, participated in an international conference on ‘The Changing World and China’ held in Beijing by China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) on 3-5 September 2010. Delivering his presentation on ‘Changing World: Challenges and China Model” and raising an apt question “Does it offer an opportunity?” Mr. Rahman discussed the current global development model centering material development and suggested the human centric development paradigm.

“The current scenario provides two paradoxical prospective for China: playing a ‘protective part’ in the existing world order or playing ‘proactive part’ in leading the way towards the paradigm shift. The challenge before China, therefore, is to balance its perspective and practice to avoid conflict,” Khalid Rahman maintained.
