A four-member delegation from Institute of Political and International Studies (IPIS), Tehran, headed by Dr. Mostafa Dolatyar, Director General IPIS, and included Jalal Kalantari, Director Center for Asian and the Pacific Studies, IPIS; Alireza Gholipour, Director Second West Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tehran, and Ahmad Montazeran, IPIS representative in Iran Embassy visited IPS and held a detailed meeting with the Chairman and Director General IPS. Najam Rafique, Programme Coordinator, and Kashif Mumtaz, Research Fellow Middle East at Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad coordinated the meeting. IPS Lead Coordinator Irfan Shahzad, and Research Coordinator on Middle East, Saleem Zafar were also present in the meeting.
The two sides shared their views on issues of mutual interest and concern, particularly in the regional context. In a candid and frank manner, the members of two organizations discussed the opportunities and challenges for Iran-Pakistan relations, and expressed their resolve to work closely for bringing the two neighboring countries closer. Both the sides expressed the need to give more impetus to their relationship which was established in early 1990s. The themes and areas for collaboration also came under discussion. Dr. Dolatyar invited a delegation from IPS to IPIS in Tehran.
