Former Malaysian Deputy PM Anwar Ibrahim visits IPS

Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia visited IPS on February 28, held meetings with the Chairman and DG; besides interacting with the institute’s research team in a  specially organized compact session.

Talking on the occasion, the world renowned Malaysian leader and intellectual commended IPS contributions towards policy-oriented issues confronting the Muslim World in general and Pakistan in particular.  He was of the view that while our leadership of the past was quite well aware of the need, the Muslim Ummah in present times lacked “substantive research on and understanding of the contemporary affairs”. He noted that the rest of the world particularly the western countries were quite ahead in the field of research. He informed that he had established Institute of Policy Research in Malaysia on the model of Institute of Policy studies, Islamabad.{/niftybox}

Chairman IPS highlighted the contributions of Mr. Ibrahim for educational reforms, self reliance and introduction of Islamic Banking in Malaysia while serving as minister for education, minister for finance and then deputy prime minister of his country.
