Teaching of South Asian Languages at Chinese Universities

Policy Perspectives, Volume 9 , Special issue on “China and SAARC” 2012

Abstract

[South Asian languages have been taught at Chinese universities for long. These, however, fall under the category of ‘less commonly taught’ languages. In the recent past, Chinese government has developed infrastructure and enhanced the facilities for the teaching of South Asian languages at Chinese universities. These efforts are aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and people to people contacts.   – Eds.]
