GB to benefit from IPS’ research work

Shereen Akhtar, Parliamentary Secretary for Education Gilgit-Baltistan visited Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) on March 19, 2017 and deliberated upon various matters of shared interests with Khalid Rahman, executive president.

Akhtar expressed that the Gilgit-Baltistan government was interested in benefiting from the invaluable research work and years of experience that the Institute had to offer, stating “It is important to integrate the researchers’ work in policy designing for socio-economic development of the region.”

Khalid Rahman said on the occasion that Gilgit-Baltistan had better literacy rate compared to many other areas of Pakistan and by the provision of suitable platforms, this talent resource could be utilized efficiently for growth and prosperity of the country.

Akhtar also explored with IPS researchers Nadeem Gilani and Fareeha Sarwar different research areas for cooperation including education and economic development.

It may be pertinent to mention here that Akhtar was selected as member legislative assembly on women reserved seat from District Ghanche and she was allotted the portfolio of the parliamentary secretary in February 2017.
