The ninth session of IPS’ series ‘The Living Scripts’ was held with Muzaffar Mahmood Qurashi, former federal secretary, Ministry of Development, Social Welfare and Special Education, on December 6, 2019.
The speaker shed light on his early years and education, sharing how he managed to go to London for his advanced studies, then undertook CSS examination and eventually joined civil services of Pakistan. He then moved on to serve on several key positions, most notably in Sheikhupura, Multan, Khanewal and Peshawar in the departments of Finance, Planning and Development, Commerce and Industries, Rural Development, Road Transport Board, Sarhad Development Authority, and then later in the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Population Welfare and Ministry of Women Development.
Expressing his satisfaction over productive years he spent as civil servant, the speaker shared that he has written several papers over a host of grass root issues, suggesting their viable solutions in light of his civil service experience.
The speaker also shared several interesting stories of his official duties during the 1965 war, discussing at length the sentiments and passion of the nation at that time.
