On the invitation of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bahria University, Islamabad, Executive President IPS Khalid Rahman participated in a one-day conference titled ‘Kashmir: Heaven in Ashes’, which was held at the University’s auditorium on March 10, 2020.
Rahman delivered a presentation on the occasion titled ‘Kashmir: At a Glance’, providing an overview of the issue while urging the Pakistani countrymen to stay positive, proactive and persistent in the wake of recent challenges faced vis-à-vis Kashmir cause. He said that there may not exist any quick-fix solution of the problem but the issue must be dealt by keeping a positive state of mind, staying vigilant and making optimum use of any opportunities that may come forth.
The presenter also pointed that the adversaries of Pakistan were engaged in using different tactics of modern hybrid warfare, trying to portray the country as a failed state by showcasing its negative image globally. It was however in the hands of our people, especially the country’s youth, to counter all the false narratives by highlight a number of positive developments happening around in the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that the academic event, which aimed at developing an understanding and raising the awareness over Kashmir issue, was attended as chief guests by President AJ&K Sardar Masood Khan and Chairman Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Syed Fakhar Zaman, whereas the other notable speakers of the session included Former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen (r) Zubair Mehmood Hayat, NI (M), Dr Mujahid Gillani, Ambassador Ashraf Jahangir Qazi and Ambassador Shahid Kiyani.
