The fourteenth session of IPS’ series of programs ‘The Living Scripts‘ was held with Parvez Ahmed Butt, former secretary, Minister of Housing, Works & Environment, & Ministry of Science & Technology, on September 11, 2020.
Reflecting on his childhood, Butt told that he was born before the partition of Indo-Pak so he had a chance to pursue his earlier studies from both the countries. His ambition all this time however was to join civil services so he channeled his path keeping that in mind.
Speaking of his rich life experiences, the speaker shared several anecdotes from his professional life with the audience, especially from his tenures as home secretary, assistant political agent, subjugate magistrate of Jirgah, deputy commissioner of Khairpur, chairman of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), his posting in Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and his times as director general of Exchanges and Supplies as well as the commissioner of Karachi Electric Supply (KES), apprising the audience on the way about several occasions when he was faced with difficult circumstances but came out successful on the back of his determination and hard work.
