About the Book

Islam is regarded as the foundational basis of Pakistan for majority of its population. The realization of a true Islamic system and Islamic society however still remains to be a dream in the country. There either has been no progress made over the matter at all, and even if there has been any, it was faced with many ups and downs. There are many factors that have been hampering this progress and they need to be taken care of, but equally important is to answer the questions and misapprehensions that are raised against it, as well as to promote and foster any work that has been done over the issue so far. This collection of Professor Khurshid Ahmad’s essays, which were originally written for Monthly Tarjuman-ul-Quran, is a great service in this regard. Though each one of these essays has its own context and background, but they all pivot around fortifying the ideological foundation of Pakistan as well as to wage political and legal struggle for its implementation. Hence these essays on one hand compile historical facts from the last few years pertaining to this effort, on the other provide social, political, constitutional and legal guidance to the extend the struggle further.
