Understanding of multiethnicity, multiculturalism among youth can promote tolerance; enhance national integration

IPS’ Director Research and Academic Outreach Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam represented the Institute at the national consultation on ‘Promoting Narratives of Diversity, Inclusion, and Peace among Youth,’ arranged by Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) on 19 May 2023.

Presenting his views, Dr Islam said that unity in a multicultural society may be evolved from within its diversity, and that can be done by rectifying the misunderstandings that exist within different ethnic groups of the country due to certain biases, myths or misconceptions.

Islam advised to impart the knowledge of multicultural and multiethnic aspects of various regions of Pakistan to the youth, maintaining that this will promote tolerance, peace and national Integration among them.

He further stressed upon the need of formulating a comprehensive youth policy synchronizing with the needs and aspirations of the country’s younger generation.
