Dr Shahzad Iqbal Sham is a senior research associate at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Islamabad. He brings with himself over 32 years of academic experience in teaching, education planning, leadership and management. A professor by profession, he has served as the head of the Department of Islamic Studies and Director QEC in the University of Gujrat, sub-Campus Sialkot; and as chairman, Department of Distance Learning in Shari’ah Academy, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). The scholar is also a longstanding member of the Council of the Shari’ah Academy. Earlier he has remained the member of Shari’ah Board of Bank of Khyber for nearly 10 years (Jul 2008-Jun2018). In addition, he is also a member of Punjab Bar enrolled as a ‘Solicitor of High Courts’.
Academically, Dr Sham has done his LLB in Law and Sharia from IIUI and completed his M.Phil., and later Ph.D., in Constitutional Studies from Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad.
